Maggie is a professional mental health counselor dedicated to helping you become the very best, most positive, most successful, happiest and healthiest version of YOURSELF! She is all about self-empowerment and empowering her clients as well as giving them the tools to be more present and contented in each moment, to practice effectively dealing with stress, to manage and deal with even the most difficult emotions, and develop and maintain supportive and long-lasting relationships. Maggie has a strong affinity for positive psychology and for using what we know about learned optimism and our own brains to create a life worth living and continually challenging ourselves to grow and learn throughout our whole lives!
Maggie is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of North Carolina and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with approximately eleven years of counseling experience, starting with her counseling internship at the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic with the Naval Hospital on Camp Lester in Okinawa, Japan. Upon moving to North Carolina in 2007, she began working for in agency settings and worked for Le Chris Counseling (New Bern, Havelock, Morehead City, Greenville) and then Turning Point Family Care in Raleigh, North Carolina. The scope of clients served has included individual, family, couples, and group therapy with various diagnoses that ranged from mild to more severe and clients have ranged in age from 5 to 90 years old. Maggie then moved into private practice Wake Forest in January 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed providing individual counseling to a variety of clients, traveling around the nation presenting at conferences and workshops, teaching skills training classes, collaborating and learning with other clinicians, and working with clients virtually.
Maggie has been intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through Behavioral Tech (the company started by the founder of DBT itself, Dr. Marsha Linehan) as of 2011 and have been practicing using DBT and starting, growing and facilitating programs ever since. She has given numerous presentations on DBT, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), personality disorders, and trauma. She is currently in the process of getting licensed in the state of ALABAMA and getting credentialed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. Maggie also is working in collaboration with THE BALANCED LIFE in Madison, Alabama.
